I imagine it will be ok for those of us who choose not to participate in said contest? I just kept thinking about all the crap that happened last time and found the headache too be too much to handle.
Not meaning to rain on your parades, I mean heck go ahead and do it, but i assume this isnt mandatory and wont be punished for choosing NOT to play. Also, will a poll be held to see if they will be held or not? _________________ My blade is the only thing I can trust. I must admit, however, it makes a horrible lover.

Yes, it is optional and the points gained in the game will be reasonable so those who do not participate don't have to worry about too unreasonable gains by other houses.
Basically, house attacks are fractions of points. to get 1 point you have to defeat 4 houses of your simular rank. And you can lose points as well. PaleDrow and I really want to make sure that what happened in the last house wars doesn't happen again.
Plus, the HW will not be conducted through journals anymore so if you aren't on that much you still can attack whomever you wish when you are on. _________________ =DrowKat

The main issue worked on for the up and coming house wars was the point system. You not only have to defeat allot of houses to gain a single point, but those houses have to be of similar rank or higher. Lower houses are not worth as much and the potential loss is greater.
The risk system is going to be implemented also to make "gaining" points have meaning. That is to say you risk permanently losing more then you gain by not executing a successful attack, so you need to attack with forethought. Attacking higher houses gains more and lower houses very little.
At one to two even battles per day it might take you 4 days of fighting to gain 1 point if you win every fight. If you lose a fight you might end up breaking even or if you lose many battles you can lose quite a bit. It will be much like gambling - no risk, no reward. Also, the defeated party in a particular round can opt to "spend" another point (permanently losing it) to stay alive and force an additional round.
So, the points will be definitely earned and not handed out. Defenders will lose nothing even if defeated unless they opt to spend a point to keep a battle alive.
A score board will be posted also to show the "Elite" strategists right down to the poorly executed.
