I will keep that in mind if I ever need a tree reference.
I used to use poser back when it was just up to #2 and stopped using it at #4. The lighting can be tricky in it. I started using MAX and Maya after that. So I went back to traditional. At the moment I am excited about my tablet and the ability to "paint" digitally. My next peice is most likely going to be a traditional type painting done fully digitally on my new pad :p

PaleDrow, how easy is the tablet to use? Before being introduced to the 3D world, I was often behind a canvas...but my paintings are really too big to scan on this little dinky scanner I have. I've been thinking about picking up one for myself and one for Silverspirit...just get put off when I try to ask sales clerks about them. _________________ "L'elamshin D'lil Ilythiiri Zhah Ulu Har'luth Jal !"

Say... I've been curious to play with a tablet (though I'm not sure I have the patience for digipainting) but I've yet to find one in a store to poke at. They're not *that* hard to find surely? Or am I just looking in the wrong places? _________________ Johann Black,

Sorry for the delay in replying, I've been out for a day.
The tablet takes some getting used to , just like any new media tool. I'd say its hardly different then a paintbrush though and the ability to correct mistakes is much greater. The variety of styles is massive and the cost savings is tremendous. I spent on the tablet probably what I spend in a couple months on traditional media.
I am very excited by the tablet mainly because I can create with that digital brilliance that I envy and admire, but at the same time I can still get the same enjoyment I get out of more traditional media because I know I am essentially "painting" with my own skills.
So far I am extremly excited by the strides I am making with it. I am finally looking at my stuff and saying "wow that looks good" which is something I rarely do.
It is VERY intimidating at first to use. Mainly because its new to me. But since I have done traditional work for so long, the transition is like going from riding a bike to riding a motorcycle. It will seem familiar very quickly if you are determined to get a handle on it. It takes some getting used to, but I have a feeling I'll be using this tablet allot in the future.

Getting a tablet was actually the first time in all these years I realized how important the ability to apply pressure was. The tablet is the tablet mostly for its ability to sense pressure. Its amazingly sensitive.
I got mine used on ebay for $60 but the newest ones are $200 at the store.
