Is it just me or is there a distinct lack of activity on the forum? There haven't been many new posts or replies in a while now, and I'm just curious if people have lost interest or what?

Like I said, just curious.

I just find it kinda interesting, because this place looked like it had a good amount of activity when it was first incepted, and now, like, a month or so later, it's like, dead.

Oh, and I am still skimming through your stuff as I get the chance.

I dunno- its spring, good weather has started, school is nearing completion- a dozen reasons why there isnt much activity of late. Or maybe there arent that many interesting topics to draw people's attention.
Hell even I'm slacking off & killing time with computer games & making a couple new dnd charries. I really should be doing more outside- too gorgeous to miss really. but no, I slack. (even tho I know I should be drawing or at least writing or updating my other da acount that I havent touched in well over a year!)
Lol no hurry. My stuff ain't going anywhere. Smile Reading yours too. Damn but you're prolific!

so umm.. something interesting... Okay there was a random chihuahua running down the road today. We clocked the little begger at 10mph. Suspect he thought we(our car that is) were hunting him. He pulled ahead, dashed around the corner & slowed right down once we were out of sight. Then we turned the corner & he sped up around the next corner, to run into great shaggy big lab coing up the other side. Poor thing panic'd, tore across a lawn to go hide in a neighbour's hedge.

Weather's been hot here. You don't wanna be out there it's so hot. What sucks worse is they haven't turned the AC on in the dorms yet.

That's nothing. We've had rodents (IE Squriels and bunnies) getting into the dorm rooms!

Hmm... Squirrels n bunnies, eh?
Never had problem with bunnies (have one that lives outide the condo that my Evil Roomate has since christened "Lord Hausenpheffer")
but back on the farm but one year we suddenly (after like 30 squirrelless years) we got a zillion squirrels. They'd come into the house via a small hole by the roof and scurry around inside the walls during the early morning hours, squeeking, bumping and being generally disconcerting when I was downstairs painting at 1 am. Smile Then they all climbed into the gutter during a rainstom, were flushed into the rain barrel below & drowned. (that was a rather icky discovery)

One year we kept hearing thumping & banging from inside one of the interior walls downstairs. It kept on for days at all hours & we thought that something must've crawled inside the chimney & come down. (There was a fireplace chimeny at this particular spot even though we never had a fireplace there) So we pulled back the faux wood panneling and be damned if there wasnt a Duck sitting there! He gave us all very dirty looks then waddled with great dignity out of the wall, the room, down the hall to the open door of the garage whereupon he promptly flew away (leaving a well aimed doody on my dad's newly washed car as he went by.)
XD

The squriels here have been getting in through open windows and a broken part of the ventilation system, I think. I saw one in the kitchen sink the other day! He was nibbling on a piece of dried pasta

Haven't seen many ducks around, but that is a funny story. For me, there was once a bird in the ceiling and I knew it was there because you could hear it. Everyone else thought it was the wind, but earlier that day, I had seen its feet. See, there was an old light in the kitchen, which was made of big pannels of plastic for covers, and a hole in it allowed the bird in. I saw it hoppin' around on the plastic and grabbed the camera.

Sure enough, it was gone by the time I got back, but I knew it was there! Finally, it decided to reveal itself, when we removed the paneling! Lo-and-behold, the thing came flyin' out!

now that you mention this:
Quote:
old light in the kitchen, which was made of big pannels of plastic for covers, and a hole in it allowed the bird in
we had those same sort of plastic flaps in our family room (same room as the duck) One day many moons ago we were in there watching tv & heard this "Taptap taptaptaptap" So we're like "WTF is that?" My dad thought it was just the old waterpipes clicking but then I looked up and saw bird feet take a stroll across the plastic. A minute later he walked across the other light & my folks saw and lo, were amazed. Couldnt see the rest of him, just the silhuettes of his feet. So we got up & poped the flap off and theres a little wren sitting there going "But..But... you just took away my dead bugs!" -It had flown in when the garage door was open & had been eating all the dried dessicated bugs that came to the light & died.
So thats just full of awesome. XD

Laughing Amazing what little animals can get into our modern structures, now isn't it?

Anyway, any ideas on how to have a little more activity on the forum?

ROFL! I have one more (not including The Eternal Mice which were many and bold) I had a weasel in the house. Couldnt ave been more then 12, playing in the family room (yep same room as the duck & the wren) when I heard my Mom scream up in the kitchen. (She dislikes all thing small, furry & alive you see. particularly mice) So I naturally thought "Mouse in the kitchen.eh." but a moment later movement caught my eye & i looked up to find a weasel in the room, watching me from the doorway. "Well now thats a surprise- no wonder she screamed." I watched him, he watched me then he burst into a pastic little jig, bobbing & chasing his tail and then like that ::snaps fingers:: he was gone.
Now you might think that was the end of it but about three years ago I saw him again, doing his little mad dervish dance by the stairs near the garage. Nobody else was home, just me & the weasel. Acually I should be specific. He was about 6 inches long pink nose to the black tip of his tail, had bright coffee dark eyes and cream-white fur: in short my weasel is an Ermine.
His dance looks a little like this:
And, nope! Not a one. (Im not good at coming up with that sort of thing) Very Happy

LOL!

Okay, I have to admit, some of that is a little hard to believe, but hey.

Now, seriously. Any ideas on how to get the forum hoppin' a little Deathless Lord?

An Ermine. Honest to Bob.
http://www.extension.org/pages/Weasels
http://stri.discoverlife.org/mp/20q?search=Mustela+erminea
Poke the links- the habitat ranges for "short tailed weasel" (M. erminea) include most of alberta, inculding the section where my house is. Smile

And still nope.
